I submitted my portrait of Isobel. Isobel is my friend’s first grand-daughter. She has a lovely face which she wore with big bright eyes staring at us inquisitively. I learned of my friend’s sudden passing when he was overseas whilst I was painting Isobel. That was just an unbearable shock to us. Now, every time I look at the painting, I could see my friend’s smile within Isobel’s and his look in Isobel’s eyes.

I feel very humbled to have been announced as a finalist for this painting.
